About Your Kansas Judges
In 2023, the Kansas Bar Association Bench and Bar Committee created the Judicial Survey subcommittee with the goal of providing meaningful information to Kansans as they evaluate judges and justices for retention. This group developed a judicial survey based on the previous efforts of the 2016 Your Kansas Judges project. In 2024, the Kansas Bar Association assumed the Your Kansas Judges project and issued its first appellate court judicial survey. Your Kansas Judges is a non-partisan, non-political, educational website designed to inform the public about the Kansas Judiciary, judicial selection in Kansas, and conduct surveys to evaluate appellate judges' performance and qualifications.
Surveys provide an objective assessment of the judges' effectiveness, impartiality, and professionalism based on feedback from Kansas lawyers. Surveys are distributed to lawyers licensed in Kansas. Respondents are asked to participate only if they have direct and personal knowledge of the judge’s qualifications during their current term of office.
The integrity of our judicial process relies on an informed electorate. We encourage readers to review these results carefully, along with other available information, to ensure a well-rounded understanding of each judge’s record and contributions to the judicial system.
2026 Judicial Review Survey
The Kansas Bar Association has partnered with the American Bar Association Center for Bar Leadership to conduct a survey evaluating the qualifications, professional conduct, and overall job performance of Kansas Supreme Court justices and Kansas Court of Appeals judges. The purpose of the survey is to provide Kansas voters with a reliable informational resource to assist them in making informed decisions during the 2026 judicial retention elections.
In the survey, respondents will identify the judges they have interacted with professionally and rate various dimensions of their job performance. The survey is expected to take 10-15 minutes to complete, depending on the number of judges or justices chosen to evaluate.
On the November 3, 2026 ballot are Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric S. Rosen and Justice Larkin Walsh, and from the Court of Appeals are Judge Lori Bolton Fleming, Judge Thomas E. Malone, Judge Kim R. Schroeder, Judge Amy Fellows Cline, Judge Lesley Ann Isherwood, Judge Jacy J. Hurst, and Judge Stephen D. Hill.
Attorneys with first-hand, professional experience with the justice or judge or their opinions in the context of a specific legal matter should complete the survey. Second-hand information, rumors, or other non-verifiable information should not be the basis for review. Results will be released in August. Previous survey results from the 2024 survey can be found here.
