Elliott Law LLC Hosts Chamber Connection and Ribbon Cutting

McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Chamber of Commerce held a Chamber Connection and Ribbon Cutting at Elliott Law LLC on Thursday, Aug. 14.
Elliott Law LLC is owned by Ann Elliott, a McPherson native who worked for Wise & Reber L.L.C. for several years before deciding to start her own practice in April.
“I just decided it was a good time for a change and wanted to try something new and be on my own,” Elliott said.
Elliott shared that the practice is 40-50 percent Family Law. Elliott also practices in Client Advising, Civil Litigation, Healthcare Law, and Municipal Law.
In high school, Elliott was on the debate team and also worked for a number of years at Wise & Reber, which went by the name of Bremyer & Wise, L.L.C. at the time.
She discovered she really enjoyed law after shadowing and working with Brett Reber and David Harger.
“When I went to college, I took a class for teaching and then decided I am not patient enough to do that,” Elliott shared. “So law school it was.”
Elliott earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from Rockhurst University in 2009, followed by her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2012, graduating with honors.
Mayor Tom Brown spoke at the ribbon cutting, adding that for years Wise & Reber was the City Attorney, and Elliott was the Assistant City Attorney under Wise & Reber.
Jeff Houston, former city attorney decided to step down from his role after 30 years in law. He is now a social studies teacher at McPherson Middle School. Since Houston’s departure, Elliott has taken the role as city attorney.
“She’s doing a great job for us and the community and I know that there are bigger and better things yet to come,” Brown said.
Elliott Law Legal Assistant Mena Santangelo was given accolades from both Elliott and Mayor Brown.
“Without her this would not be possible,” Elliott said. “She keeps everything organized and everybody going.”
