The Supreme Court Nominating Commission interviewed fifteen candidates on June 9 and 10 to fill the open position on the Kansas Supreme Court created by the resignation of Justice Evelyn Wilson. The Commission recommended three candidates to Gov. Laura Kelly. The governor has 60 days to appoint one of the three.
Hon. Amy Jane Hanley

Judge Hanely is a 2001 graduate of Drake Law School. She was appointed to be a judge in the 7th Judicial District by Gov. Sam Brownback in 2016.
Hon. Krishnan Christopher Jayaram

Judge Jayaram is a 1997 graduate of Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College. He was appointed to be a judge in the 10th Judicial District by Gov. Laura Kelly in 2021.
Larkin Evans Walsh

Larkin Walsh is 2004 graduate of the University of Kansas Law School. She is a former clerk for US District Court Judge Carlos Murguia and served as a research attorney for Justice Carol Beier
Governor Kelly will have 60 days to choose which one to appoint to fill the Supreme Court vacancy.
The Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission will have two new members. On July 1, 2025, Terrance J. Campbell will take over as Chair of the Kansas Supreme Court Nominating Commission. Rachael K. Pirner will represent the Fourth Congressional District as its lawyer-elected member. Both will serve 4-year terms, expiring on June 30, 2029.
