Members Elected as District Representatives on the Kansas Bar Association Board of Governors

(August 21, 2006) Topeka, KS—The following individuals have been elected to serve as District Representatives on the Kansas Bar Association (KBA) Board of Governors by the Association’s membership. Each will serve a three-year term ending in June 2009.

DISTRICT 1 (Johnson County)

Eric G. Kraft, Overland Park, practices with the law firm of Duggan, Shadwick, Doerr & Kurlbaum P.C. He earned his J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1999 and concentrates in the area of general and civil litigation with an emphasis in real estate litigation. Kraft is a past president of the KBA Young Lawyers Section (YLS) and previously served on the Board of Governors as the YLS Representative in 2004-05.

DISTRICT 2 (The counties of Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Douglas, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Miami, Nemaha, Osage, Pottawatomie, and Wabaunsee)

Gerald R. Kuckelman, Atchison, is a general practice attorney and a partner in the firm of Garrity & Kuckelman and also is the County Attorney for Atchison. He received his J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1985 and has been an active member of the KBA Bench-Bar Committee. Kuckelman begins his second term on the KBA Board of Governors.

DISTRICT 4 (The counties of Butler, Chase, Chautauqua, Coffey, Cowley, Elk, Greenwood, Lyon, and Sumner)

William E. Muret, Winfield, is the Winfield city attorney and maintains his own law offices of William E. Muret, L.L.C. Muret received his J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1984 and practices in the areas of municipal law, debt collection, juvenile, probate, and domestic law. This is his first term on the KBA Board of Governors.

DISTRICT 5 (Shawnee County)

Martha J. Coffman, Topeka, is the director of advisory counsel for the Kansas Corporation Commission and is starting her second term on the KBA Board of Governors. She joined the KBA after graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1979. Coffman has also served on the Board of Editors for the Bar Journal of the Kansas Bar Association since 1990.

DISTRICT 6 (The counties of Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Geary, Lincoln, Marion, Marshall, McPherson, Morris, Ottawa, Republic, Riley, Saline, and Washington)

Gabrielle M. Thompson, Manhattan, is the managing attorney of the Kansas Legal Services offices in Manhattan and Seneca and practices in the areas of family, elder, disabilities, and farm law and is a certified mediator. Thompson is a 1982 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law and is beginning her second term on the KBA Board.

DISTRICT 7 (Sedgwick County)

Rachael K. Pirner, Wichita, is a member of the Triplett, Woolf & Garretson L.L.C. law firm and practices in the areas of probate general litigation and assisted reproductive law. Pirner graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Law in 1989 and is beginning her second term on the KBA Board.

DISTRICT 10 (The counties of Cheyenne, Decatur, Ellis, Gove, Graham, Jewell, Logan, Mitchell, Norton, Osborne, Phillips, Rawlins, Rooks, Russell, Sheridan, Sherman, Smith, Thomas, Trego, and Wallace)

Glenn R. Braun, Hays, is a partner in Glassman, Bird & Braun L.L.P., where he has practiced for the past 25 years. He is also the prosecutor for the city of Hays, and previously served two terms as Ellis County attorney. A graduate of the Washburn University School of Law, he is an at-large member of the KBA Executive Committee and is beginning his second term on the Board.
