Kansas Bar Association elects Officers for 2005-06

(August 10, 2005) Topeka, KSRichard F. Hayse, Topeka, has been elected to serve as the president of the Kansas Bar Association (KBA) for 2005-06. His one-year term of office will run until June 2006. Hayse is a director and shareholder with Morris, Laing, Evans, Brock and Kennedy Chtd. He has been in private law practice in Topeka since 1975 and concentrates in the areas of business organizations, real estate, banking, bankruptcy, and estate planning. Hayse received his B.A. from Kansas State University in 1964 and his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 1969.

David J. Rebein, Dodge City, was elected to serve as the president-elect of the Kansas Bar Association for 2005-06. Rebein is a partner in the firm of Rebein Bangerter PA. Rebein received his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1980 and has been a member of the KBA Board of Governors since 1997, serving as a District 9 representative from 1997-2004, and as vice president in 2004-05.

Linda S. Parks, Wichita, has been elected to serve as the vice president of the Kansas Bar Association for 2005-06. She is a managing partner with Hite, Fanning and Honeyman LLP. A KBA member since 1983, Parks has served on the KBA Board of Governors as the delegate to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates since 1999. Parks earned her J.D., cum laude, from Washburn University School of Law in 1983.

Ernest C. Ballweg was elected to serve as the 2005-06 secretary-treasurer of the Kansas Bar Association. Ballweg, Overland Park, is a private practitioner with Johnston, Ballweg and Tuley L.C. Ballweg has been an active member of the KBA since 1969, previously serving on the KBA Board of Governors, and remains an active member of the Legislative Committee. Ballweg received his J.D. from the University of Kansas in 1969.

Christopher J. Masoner, Kansas City, Mo., will be serving as the 2005-06 Young Lawyers Section President. Masoner is an associate with the firm of Blackwell, Sanders, Peper and Martin LLP, practicing in real estate law. He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University in 1997.
