Hayse Installed as Kansas Bar Association President
(July 11, 2005) Topeka, KSRichard F. Hayse, Topeka, was installed as president of the Kansas Bar Association (KBA) at a KBA Board of Governors meeting last month in Vail, Colo. He succeeds Michael P. Crow, Leavenworth, who completed a one-year term as president of the organization.
"I am honored to be given an opportunity to work with a great board of governors and hard-working KBA staff," said Hayse. "I look forward to continuing a 123-year tradition of service to the community and profession."
A director and shareholder in the Topeka office of the law firm of Morris, Laing, Evans, Brock and Kennedy, Chtd., Hayse has been in private law practice since 1975 and concentrates in the areas of business organizations, real estate, banking, bankruptcy, and estate planning.
Hayse received his B.A. from Kansas State University in 1964 and his J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in 1969. Prior to entering in private practice, he was an assistant Kansas attorney general in the civil division. He also served as a Foreign Service information officer for the U.S. Information Agency.
Hayse served as the KBA’s president-elect in 2004-05, vice president in 2003-04, and was a District 5 (Shawnee County) representative from 2000-02.
He is a Fellow of the Kansas Bar Foundation, member and past director of the Topeka Bar Association, as well as a member of the American Bar Association.
