Sara Beezley Appointed to Key Post in American Bar Association

Girard Attorney to serve in ABA House of Delegates

(October 28, 2005) Topeka, KS—Sara S. Beezley, Girard, has been appointed by the Kansas Bar Association (KBA) Board of Governors to serve as a KBA Delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates. As a KBA Delegate, she will represent the interests of the Kansas Bar and will serve a two-year term ending in August 2007. She succeeds Linda S. Parks, Wichita, who resigned from the position to become KBA Vice President.

“Sara is a perfect fit for this position,” said KBA President Richard F. Hayse of Topeka. “Her experience and dedication will serve us well.”

“I am truly honored and very excited to be given an opportunity to work with other Bar leaders from across the country,” said Beezley. “I look forward to serving the members of our association as well as the citizens of Kansas at the national level.”

A graduate of the Duke University School of Law, Beezley has been a solo practitioner in Girard since 1983. Beezley became a member of the Kansas Bar Association in 1979 and served as its president in 2002-03. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kansas Bar Foundation as well as a Fellow of the KBF.

In addition to being a member of the American Bar Association, she is a member of the Crawford County Bar and Kansas Trial Lawyers associations and a member of the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Beezley serves on the Board of Discipline of Attorneys for the State of Kansas and the Family Law Advisory Committee to the Judicial Council for the State of Kansas.

With more than 400,000 members, the American Bar Association is the largest voluntary professional association in the world. The control and administration of the ABA is vested in the House of Delegates, the policy-making body of the association. The House of Delegates presently consists of 547 members and meets twice each year at the ABA Annual and Midyear Meetings. All actions taken by the House of Delegates become official ABA policy.
